Yes! The volunteers in the transition tents are amazing. They help you get changed, repack gear into bags, ect. But once you leave and start the run there are people whose sole job is to apply sunscreen! Kind of crazy. 🧴
So obviously didn’t work so well for me this time. But the problem is I just took it too late. I wanted to nail my nutrition plan successfully and not need them, but in hindsight Matt says I should’ve just taken them at the start of the marathon. I have a bit of GERD which complicates matters processing that much nutrition for 12-14 hours.
Tums work (mint not fruit) also I use RX- Zofran. But that’s break in case of emergency- one time thing.
“I ran past the super aggressive sunscreen people…” 😄 What is that? Is that an Ironman thing, people putting sunscreen on you?
Also, do you mind sharing what kind of anti-nausea meds you use? I haven’t had much luck with ginger chews or even actual ginger.
Great race report and an amazing experience for both of you, congratulations!
