Now keep in mind that I’m not a professional swimmer, so my form isn’t perfection. But I like to think it’s pretty darn good for a triathlete!
Anyways, the purpose of these videos is to illustrate the points made in the post about how breath timing and coordinate with pacing.
In this first video clip, I demonstrate bilateral breathing at easy or Ironman pace.
The sequence I use is one breath every third stroke. This is what it looks like (breathe, 1 stroke, 2 stroke, breathe on 3 stroke. 1 stroke, 2 stroke, breathe on 3 stroke.)
NOTE: If you breathe on an even interval like 2 or 4, you will continue breathing to one side. But if you breathe on an odd interval, like I’m doing here with a 3, then you will naturally switch sides and utilize bilateral breathing.
